"Hilarious Slapstick Joyride!"

PAUL MOSS, actor, The Handlebards co-founder, “Sonya Anise is an extraordinary writing and drawing talent. MUMAGEDDON!’s surreal plot with witty wordplay and brilliant illustrations is thoroughly enjoyable. A hilarious slapstick joyride that'll grip you from beginning to end!”

"A Delightful Gem That Ticks Every Box!"

ANNEKE REIJMERINK, child psychologist, "Amazingly Funny, Utterly Brilliant and Poetic Read. Highly Recommended!

As a child psychologist, I am always on the lookout for books that spark joy while addressing essential themes for children’s emotional and social development. Sonya Anise’s MUMAGEDDON! is a delightful gem that manages to tick every box.

This delightful story weaves together humour, adventure, and heart-warming life lessons. It cleverly explores complex themes such as blended families, managing and expressing big emotions, and the transformative power of compromise, acceptance, and forgiveness. With a storyline that’s both fantastical and deeply relatable, this book will resonate with readers of all ages. Sonya’s genius lies in her ability to address important topics like mindfulness, meditation, and even veganism in a way that feels accessible and fun rather than preachy. The book also celebrates creativity and safe play through its encouragement of cooking and other interactive activities—a brilliant way to engage children’s imaginations while fostering their independence and confidence. The charm of MUMAGEDDON! doesn’t stop at its lessons; it’s an utterly joyous read. Fans of Dahl will love the whimsical humour and mischievous energy, while the emotional depth ensures that parents and caregivers—especially stepmothers—find themselves moved by its ultimate message of unconditional love. Sonya Anise has crafted a book that is not just a story but an experience. I can see it becoming a cherished classic on family bookshelves, sparking laughter, thoughtful conversations, and shared moments of connection for years to come.

This is a must-read for children, parents, and anyone who believes in the power of storytelling to heal, inspire, and bring people together.”

“I'd give this book TEN STARS if I could... INCREDIBLE!”

JENNIFER PEER’S, author, “Fantastical, Fun and Fantabulous! I would give this book ten stars if I could. From the opening to the end there is so much to love about it that you will find yourself starting over. The pictures alone are so much fun to study. The balloons with additional text of facts and quotes too! Then, the storyline itself is fantastic. We feel sad for our unsung hero in the beginning, but when we find out that this is not the first stepmom he has had issues with, things take a shift. We realize he may not be quite so innocent. With an absent father, I still felt sad as this little boy couldn't seem to get a break. Then the author blew my mind with her rewind! Back to mum 2, our hero took a new approach. And guess what? Life became sweet! Wonderful fun to read with strong subtext on goals, how to deal with your anger (and what not to do), open communication, step parent relationships, and how love makes all of the difference. Incredible!"

“There’s a ‘KAPOW!’ on Every Page!”

MAUREEN OLIVIA, “It takes Two! There’s a ‘kapow’ on every page, explosive illustration and riotous rhyme. I bought this book for my grandchildren and they are happy to read it themselves. But I also love reading it to them."

“Thoroughly Enjoyable, Quirky, Fun, Madcap Adventure!”

ANNEMARIE MAZOTTI GOUVEIA, award-winning author, “Quirky, fun, madcap adventure story… full of unexpected twists, lots of interesting and captivating illustrations and is a whole lot of fun. Thoroughly enjoyable, loved the ending!"

“Kids Book of the Year!”

OLIVER CLAY, “It’s as good as Roald Dahl’s poems!!! You won’t be disappointed! My kids loved the illustrations & witty puns! Thank you so much Sonya for making bed time reading so much fun!"

“Original!”

THROUGH THE PAGES, Novel and entertaining to say the least. I enjoyed the plot and mostly, the characters. Great job on this refreshing story!"

“Impressive Poetry and Artistry!”

PAUL BALDWIN, author, editor, proof reader, “The most important thing to understand is that writing is an art, and one of the hardest forms of art is writing poetry. Poetry has many rules or none at all. In this work of art, the author has written a satisfyingly lengthy and poetic story that is humorous, eye-opening, and worrisome (before getting to the chapter where she changes the ending!). I loved how we receive a message on how to attack tough situations of miscommunication like what happened in this story. As for the graphic design and illustrations, I thought they were brilliant… I say well done, and thank you for writing something different and thought provoking. Poetry makes the reader try a little harder and that's a good thing. There are symbols everywhere and I'm just glad I stumbled upon this book. Thank you. Keep cooking and writing."

“So Creative and Enjoyable!”

YELLOW UMBRELLA GIRL, Love the creativity and uniqueness of this book! Kept our attention and it was actually fun to read. It's sorta nutty and silly but that is the intent and we actually laughed out loud at parts. Definitely recommend!"

“A Very Special Book!”

NEPTUNE, Fun and very well done! MUMAGEDDON! And the Food Magician by Sonya Anise is a very special book, original and with a lot of passion. As soon as I read the first few pages, I knew it would be five stars. The graphics feel real, with a very honest and personal style from the author, no AI. The design is irreverent, lighthearted, and works very well. The prose is narrated with cute rhymes that match well with the funny and mayhem story. Being a children's book where the emphasis is on passion for something and being as authentic as possible, the way it is narrated, what it tells and the design lives up to the message. Highly recommended!"

“Very Quirky and Fun Book!”

CARNIVAL OF SOULS, A very quirky and fun book! The story makes you feel for the poor boy as Mommy Dearest puts him through it. The story has that Lemony Snicket feel to it. The artworks is clever and edgy. Very cool!"

“Fabulously Funny!”

HELEN LOXTON, psychologist, MUMAGEDDON! is an absolute joy to recite, especially with the voice of the diabolically wicked stepmonster. Sonya Anise’s clever nod to Macbeth’s witches is brilliant. I can’t recommend this book highly enough—it’s destined to be a classic!”

“What a Fabulous Book! I’d Give It A TEN If I Could!”

K CLARK, “From page one I knew I was in for a treat! It's zany, nutty, whimsical, hilarious... and so much more! The creative way that the author weaves this story seems effortless. The play on words and inane references were quick and oh so funny. I also have to give a huge round of applause for the illustrator, who without their amazing interpretation and depiction of the scenes, characters and storyline, this book wouldn't be as fabulous as it already is by far! I hope that this author continues to listen to the stories waiting to come to life on the pages!”

“HILARIOUS READ! The Ultimate Foodie Revenge!”

ELLA ENGLISH, “This book is a really fun read which follows a young boy who turns his unfortunate boarding school fate into an opportunity for the ultimate foodie revenge. The rhymes are wacky, the humor is sharp, and the illustrations? Pure genius—every page bursts with energy and quirky charm!”

“What An Inventive Book This Is!”

BUGWHISKER, “What an inventive book this is with so many nutty and inane (yet sometimes meaningful and always playful) expressions. There are so many asides and illustrations and quirky words and phrases that you’ll have to read some parts over a few times to ingest the wackiness of it all… The hilarious illustrations are super spontaneously scribbled and fit the text to a “t.” I really appreciated the expressive faces drawn into the hair of the mum. I know age range may be 8-18, but I think it could be for anyone above 8.”

“LOVE IT!!!!”

MEL,Wow, what a book!"

“Woooord Up! You're Gonna Devour This!”

VENUS, Okay, so MUMAGEDDON! is basically what happens when Roald Dahl and a sugar rush have a baby. It’s pure, chaotic, rhyming mayhem—and I mean that in the best way possible. Our hero, a banned-from-the-kitchen chocolatier (tragic, right?), gets stuck in the worst boarding school ever, ruled by evil prefects. But does he sit quietly and accept his fate? Nope. He brews up some magical mischief, and things go wild. The rhymes? Hilarious. The illustrations? Bursting with color and energy. The stepmother? Ugh. And the message? Surprisingly sweet under all the madness. If you love George’s Marvellous Medicine or Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, you’re gonna devour this.

So why not five stars? Well, sometimes the craziness is so over-the-top, it almost derails the story. But honestly, that’s part of the fun. If you’re into books that make you laugh, cringe, and possibly rethink eating mysterious chocolates, this one’s a must-read!"
